We’re taking you on a trip back to the 90’s to the fashion we have fond memories of but perhaps wouldn’t plan on wearing two decades on, until now! Don’t dust off your Spice Girl platforms and bubble backpacks just yet, this throwback is embracing the revival and reworking of classic pieces from 20 years ago with a chic twist bringing it into 2016.

This spring/summer, vary your look from the sexy grunge of 90’s minimalism to laidback luxe with high waisted distressed denim and crop tops.

So let’s start with an evening look we’re loving this season, the slip dress! Its thin straps, loose fit and delicate lace detailing will make for an elegant date night ensemble. Stay true to the decade and add a layer under a beautiful dress like you can see here on our model. Complete the look with a choker necklace - yes they’re back AND they’re everywhere! Dig out your old-school black material choker or style up the look with a silver option like this one from Zara.

Underwear as outwear has been a hot topic for a little while but never more so than now. This extends into wearing plain v-neck t-shirts with a peek of visible lace or straps. Ann Summers have a selection you’ll be keen to show off, but of course, wear it right & keep it classy!

Lighten your look for daytime by mixing washed denims and pretty pales. The trick to mastering this ‘naturally stylish’ look is to capture that ‘too cool to care’ attitude. Grab yourself some girlfriend jeans, high waisted and rolled at the bottom with a slightly looser fit than your usual skinnies and pair them with a simple crop to show off a little skin. The high waisted jeans will keep your tummy covered and accentuate your waist and the looseness doesn’t make the crop seem too revealing! And who could forget dungarees? Whether they’re long or short, denim or tailored, it’s all in the styling. Team your denim comfies with a casual shirt for picnics in the afternoon or a high necked crop with your tailored jumpsuit dungarees & a killer pair of heels for a night out on the town.

It’s not just your wardrobe that needs to time travel, your make-up should too! After all, what’s a grunge look without a bold red lip and a colourful smokey eye? We’d recommend the Colour Fever Eyeshadow Palette from Kiko and the Deep Berry Lip Stain from The Body Shop for the ultimate 90’s make-up.
